The American Dream
Before (so pretty, no?)
And ... then I found the shovel ...
Not so pretty, but at least I can get to school ... oh wait, I have to dig my car out first.

i think part of growing up is coming to terms with not having snow days. :( i guess in dc there is always the federal government though, which gives a little hope b/c they cancel pretty easily. although i'm guessing you didn't have any in india, eh?
Yeah, school was never called off for weather - unless there was severe flooding (only happened to me once). Our version of a "snow day" was whenever the city clowns decided to riot or call a "bundh" (bundh = closed; equivalent of a strike). The only notable riot was in 1996 - Bangalore's only bout with communal violence - we were off for TWO WEEKS! Don't YOU wish you grew up in (what was then) the third world? :)
I wish there were snow days where I am. My car slid on the way to work because the snow plows didn't do a good job. Alhamdulillah I was only going 10mph to begin with and I was already in the slow lane. They should require snowchains here like they do in Cali 'cuz Nashvillians don't know how to drive in the snow.
