Writing on ... and updatin' ya'll
Apologies for the extended absence from the blogosphere. Things are a little crazy in Z's world right now - the rents are in the country, I'm jumping from city to city and attempting to balance this write on as I do so. I wish I had a visual to put up here! :-) But you guys can probably form a pretty good picture in your minds!
Whats been up? Well, finals were done last Monday (almost two weeks past) and for a couple of days I just kinda chilled - hung out w/the law school buddies, went out for a movie (MI:3), blah blah ... drove down to Philly on Friday (w/Ms. Jones), had a whirlwind lunch w/my two favorite Philly-ites - Aly and SJShafi, just about made it to the train (slid into the car, in fact) - and headed to the District. Upon arrival, shot over to Mo and Bhabi's apartment, just in time to give mom a big hug, and shower before the rest of the khandan arrived - for a scrumptious meal, crossing a few continents.
Saturday was a glorious day - absolutely beautiful weather - I woke up early (shocking) got some work done before heading to meet Lang for brunch at Kramer Books (which is still awesome!) - as usual, chillin' w/Lang was fantastic. I was really lucky to have made some really great friends while at K&S - goes to show - everything does happen for a reason, Alhamdullilah! Scooted over to Pentagon city for a hair cut and quickly stuck my head in a few stores, before having to shoot back over to the apartment. Dinner was at Shamshiry (still the awesome-est place in town!) w/the fam - always good times!
Sunday was graduation day - rising bright and early, we headed off to the arena - sat through some pretty good speeches (this is graduation #7 - at least - and I must say the speeches were more memorable than some in the past!). Reception (mm great cake!) and headed out to Bethesda for some more family fun! Got to catch up with some of the folks that I've been missing over the past 9 months in a more relaxed atmosphere than in the past.
All in all a crazy, but fun time - sadly I didn't get to see people that I wanted to see - UVa crew, DC-muslimah, etc. :-(. Please forgive me guys!
Anyhoo, I have returned to the 'burgh (on Tuesday) to complete this write on competition - and to attend orientation activities downtown for my summer job. Productivity is at an all time low uuurgggh.
So why, pray tell, have I been MIA from the blogosphere? Well, I've been spending my time wisely ... no, I haven't actually been focusing on the write on competitions - sheesh, me - productive?! Are you on crack? No no no, I have been working on a little project over the last few days - that I'm VERY excited about. I don't plan on revealing my little secret until the appropriate time - so, watch this space - soon, inshaAllah - all will be revealed.
