Blogging hiatus

My mind is buzzing with thoughts, ideas, things I want to say and things I want to do. My perspective on the law is really jaded right now, which makes it very difficult to focus on the most important thing in my life right now - getting through finals. Sad, but true. I often find myself distracted - reading articles about whats going on in the world outside of Pittsburgh - living vicariously through the New York Times, the BBC and NPR. But its gotta stop. At least for the next 15 days. I realized today, not for the first time, that I'm of no use to anyone - least of all myself - if I mess this up. So I'm not going to let it happen. The internet is no longer my friend.

Finals start on April 27, 2006. Here's the schedule - please print it out, and place it in an appropriate place where you can see it. At the given time, please begin the dua'a of your choosing. Jazakhallah Khayr :-)

1pm: Thursday, April 27, 2006 - Civil Procedure. How to make sure your case isn't thrown out of court before you get to actually get to tell someone (judge, jury) why you deserve to win!

1pm: Tuesday, May 2, 2006 - Criminal Procedure. Why the most important piece of legal advice that I can ever give to my friends - is to not say anything, no matter what, until they have a lawyer present.

** practical knowledge - you have every right to remain silent. more later.

9am: Thursday, May 4, 2006 - Constitutional Law. Probably the most interesting and most dry course at the same time. I love it and I despise it. And I know very little about how I'm going to face it. I shall not pass rational basis review. *sigh.

1pm: Monday, May 8, 2006 - Property Law. If you find a piece of land, and sit on it for long enough, it might be yours. If you find something thats not yours, finders might be keepers. If you don't check the records before you buy land, you're screwed. Lesson? Don't ignore your property, don't lose your stuff and do a background check on everything.

Well folks, now you know everything that I know. And with only 4 days and approximately 12 hours to go before my first final, I've got alot of work to do.

Good luck on finals kids. Remember the why, not the what ... and we'll all be ok.

I'll be back in 15 days and a handful of hours. InshaAllah!
