Where's the passion when you need it the most
When the world is at war, my writing is at its worst. I've been terrible about posting for several reasons. One is that I'm crazy busy, in the midst of a move (more to come about that). Another is that there's so much going on in my life, that I can barely keep things in check let alone write about them. I'm also trying to stop living through a picture frame (as John Mayers says) - I found that alot of times I was trying to soak up everything around me only to be able to write on the blog, instead of internalizing it and relfecting within myself. The last, and probably most compelling reason that I haven't been blogging is this - over the past year, I've tried to comment on things that are important to me - family and current affairs. Right now I am so disturbed by what is going on in the Middle East that I can't even comment on it. I also wonder if it is worth my while commenting on it. Everyone knows how absolutely disproportionate this "war" is - whether they choose to recognize it is their own problem. Any attempt to spin this war in Israels favor is a slap in the face of every single intelligent person.
I wish that I had the ability to coherently express the battle being waged in my head over this tragedy - but I can barely understand what is going on. I cannot believe that people that have the power to stop the killing of innocent people refuse to do so, and in fact perpetuate the killing. It amazes me that some people are so narrowminded that they actually believe that a few people of one region are worth the lives of hundreds in another.
*sigh.
